Found abundantly in the South East part of Durango and other states such as San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas and Guanajuato. Wild but vast, this medium sized maguey has short and wide leaves with a pointy finish and a vibrant green color. It has a 0.8 to 2m. diameter and 1.6 to 4m. height, delivering piñas that weigh from 60 to a 100kg.
Tasting Notes:
Aroma: Salted caramel, corn husks, green chilis, antique must, and subtle lactic notes, with hints of pepper.
Palate: The palate is layered with caramel, celery, spearmint, and a mineral salinity.
Finish: A spicy kick of chile de arbol and jalapeño peppers lingers into a long finish of mint, leather, allspice, and clay.
